I can't turn the spindle/shaft of the fan to remove so I can replace the new fan shaft. I can't remove the handle screws even to place a screwdriver into motor to stop the shaft from turning to remove it. But most of all I am not sure I am trying to turn the shaft in the right direction. Which direction does it turn? To the right or to the left?
Please help.

Here are two videos that may help.
Looking at the direction of the curve in the fan impeller blades shown in the videos it seems as though the fan turns anti clockwise when viewed from the rear of the vacuum cleaner.
