A53 slow down/lag/freeze after display replacement

Greetings ,

Yesterday i replaced a cracked screen for my customer's A53 that was not working since November of 2023 .

I found an OEM OLED Screen so i bought it replaced the old one .

After the repair was complete I turned the device on and ran the diagnostics where it passed all of them successfully, so I proceeded with gluing the back of the phone. I realized that the device lags quite a bit, so I suggested my client to proceed with factory settings because his mobile phone may have unwanted applications that make it slow. He took the device and proceeded to update the software and applications and noticed that the touch sometimes gets stuck, like when you try to browse your mobile phone with wet hands, something that is fixed by restarting the mobile phone, but it reappears after a while. It doesn't seem reasonable to me that the mobile phone is slow after a screen replacement, rather I believe that the mainboard flex is faulty and needs to be replaced. What is your opinion and what steps would you take in my position?

Hi @unscrewguru67,

Does it do this in safe mode?

Does it do this with the charger connected?

if yes and yes, you may have to temporarily replace the display just to know whether it is the display or something else.

Just verifying that the part number of the replacement display is GH82-28025A (or B, or C, or D)?

Just what I'd try.

@unscrewguru67

Here's a link to the service manual that may help if it isn't the display but something else.

It's a .rar type file so once downloaded, you will need to use something like 7-Zip to compile it so that you can read it

Thanks for the quick reply .

It's something I haven't tried yet.

He will return the smartphone to me and I will try it.

In the case that it works properly with the charging cable or in safe mode, do we think that in the first case it is a battery problem and in the second case it is a software issue?

Thanks in advance

@unscrewguru67

Yes and that's what I would eliminate first.

I was updating my answer when you posted so check what I suggested about the part number for the display.

It is not unknown to sometimes get either a faulty "new" display (even OEM) or even to get the wrong one

Cheers

Sorry for the delay .

So i went to Samsung and we did replace the screen . That was the issue.

The previous LCD was OEM with 60hz screen and big bezels .

That was a big lesson .

I'll never buy again a low quality lcd for my customers
