Hi Jess,

If the screen is completely separated from the phone now, then the flex cable that connects them together has been torn off. Unfortunately, that's not repairable so you'll need to replace the screen with a new one. I didn't locate any step by step iFixit style guides for you, but there is a YouTube video showing someone replacing a screen who appears to be in the very same situation you are with the screen detached to start with.

The screen itself appears to be relatively inexpensive as phone displays go and it looks like you can get it at several sites like Amazon, eBay and AliExpress, among others, according to what works for you. Here's an example from AliExpress of one that should work.

If you decide to take this on, be sure to take lots of pictures as you work and when you're done you can use them to create your very own iFixit guide to this repair! It's easy, fun, and will earn the gratitude of the community.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
