Where can I find a hinge? Is this even the right thing to look for?

Hi,

My laptop's model number is NP950QDB-KB1US, and my right hinge has broken in some sort of way. You can see that image here:

I've called Asurion for a quote to fix it, and they said $200 + 2 or so weeks, which is unacceptable to me. This was specified to be the hinge, and that the screen would be upwards of $500, even though iFixIt sells the screen for $350 (BA96-07668B). Asurion did explicitly say that there seems to be a way to remove the hinge.

I have tried for a few hours to look for a similar hinge and even the hinge itself, but I cannot find it anywhere. The hinge seems to be its own unique shape, as found in this image https://guide-images.cdn.ifixit.com/igi/...

If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can fix the hinge itself or replace it or where to find the part or if it's actually impossible to replace the hinge, please leave some guidance.

The hinge is not a separately available part. At least not according to this parts list for the laptop.

Looking at a zoomed in version of the image you posted, it seems as though there's some sort of plastic cover over the hinge which may perhaps be hiding the screws that attach the lid side of the hinge to the lid, but this is only a guess.

Check if it is possible to remove the hinge cover at all.

If you can and the hinge is broken you may have to contrive how to fix it or to replace it somehow, but given that a cable passes through the barrel of the hinge this may not be easy.

I can't even find a faulty model online that you could buy to use as a donor. You may have better luck with this idea
