GPU/CPU running hot and loud

I have recentlly been having the issue where my laptop runs hot and is quite loud, but only when I am playing games. So I suspect that it may be my GPU. How can I fix this issue? I have updated the graphics card and I have lowered the graphics settings on my games, but the issue is still there. Any advice on how to move forward?

@luchesalgueiro Most likely you need to clean the fans and/or replace the thermal paste. It's not something that can be solved with software. What is your specific laptop model?

Refer to page 35 of the manual here to remove the heatsink assembly, then follow this video to replace the thermal paste.

I attempted to clean the fans but since there isn't much space between them, I wasn't able to do any actual cleaning.

Usually if you use a watercolor brush and brush along the fins gently, some dust may come out. If there's no visible dust, the problem is probably the thermal paste. I can't add links in the comments so I'll add the link to the service manual in the solution. Removing the heatsink is on page 35. You'll need some cotton pads and preferably isopropyl alcohol to wipe off the existing thermal paste, then apply thermal paste to the CPU and GPU according to the video I've linked.

@dannish

FYI you can add links in comments either type the URL in, copy and paste directly or rename them as you have done in your answer.

You can't add images in a comment but what you can do is to provide them in another new answer below and then when submitting it you get the option to show as an update to your first answer, it will go to the edit where you can check it and then submit it from there so it will show as an update in your 1st answer
