Can you add a picture of what your screen looks like?
Typically with a partial LCD failure as you describe, it is a result of damage. Has the phone been dropped, hit, crushed? Or exposed to water, heat, or direct sunlight for an extended period of time?
Photos of the phone as Jerry requested would certainly help.
