Actually, my device wasn't listed....***.

I want to fix a Sony 5 disk, CD/DVD player for 95 yr parents who don't have the Internet to watch movies or stream music (can't afford it).

They have a Sony player, model DVP-NC665P, Serial #1103500.

For a while it has been turning on, sometimes not. Pressing the button sometimes caused an instantaneous blip of display, top middle of the screen, and then it goes out. Now nothing happens.

Any idea of what to fix or replace? (Thanks for the idea to include image(s) of circuit board(s). Hope that helps.

Thanks,
John

@john16096 Can you take the top off the player and upload pictures of the circuit boards inside? Voeg afbeeldingen toe aan een bestaande vraag

This isn't the answer but a beginning to an answer. Service Manual for Sony DVP-NC665 DVD Player:

Service Manual

I presume it doesn't work with either the remote nor the power button on the actual unit?

Do you have any experience with electronic repair and reading schematics ? Do you have a multi-meter?

If no, either get an experienced friend to help or at the very least make sure the unit is unplugged and remember that the capacitors (the small drum shaped components) can still hold a charge and give you a shock.

A good place to start would be age 83 or 6-1 which explains how to start the Test Mode - press in this order [TOP MENU], [CLEAR], [POWER] keys on the remot eand lists the Power Off Information Code List and what they mean. Does the Test Mode Menu even appear on the TV monitor?

NOTE: Interestingly, The manual site lists it as NC665, but clicking on it, it goes to NC625. Maybe it's close enough to work for both. Thanks.

@john16096

The manual covers both model numbers plus some more - depends on where they're marketed
