Hi @jesseficklin,

What is the model number of the TV?

Does the TV's standby power light turn on when the power is connected to the TV?

Have you tried using both the TV controls and the remote control unit to see if ti turns on?

Plasma HDTV, no power light, yes tried the power reset stuff there was a few different opinions so tried them. The unplugging, the holding the buttons down lol. Would love it if $@$* would be that easy lol. But just my luck, it is 12 years old, but not banged around, but alot of use lol. I just remember my first TV that was older than me. Lol. I'm pretty handy I'm a carpenter, tvs not my expertise lol. But can figure it out, so what's next,

Ok

@jesseficklin

Model number would really help as then the power board info could be located so that you could check if the main supply fuse on the board is OK or not.

It may also help to find the service manual which has the schematics. There is a lot of info out there once you have the model info especially for older models ;-)

Either that or disconnect the power to the TV and take the back cover off and then check the board where the power cord connects to and see if you can locate the fuse (should be near the power cord connection) and test it with an Ohmmeter to make sure it's OK. Also check for heat stressed or burnt out components and blown or leaking capacitors on the power board as well

Hi @jesseficklin

Here's a download link to the service manual for the TV. (not the user manual)

Go to p.18 to view the no power troubleshooting flowchart.

See p.22 for disassembly instructions.

Hopefully a start.

Really appreciate the help, last question,.in your opinion is it worth it, will it last for years again or just putting a bandaid on a broken leg? Lol. I have a hard time throwing things like electronics away. So be honest am I just waiting me time?

@jesseficklin

Preventing electronics going to landfill is always worthwhile depending on whether it is economically viable to do so of course and also the condition of the device as well

If everything else is OK it may be just a board problem.

If it is the power board for example they can vary in price from $50-$100.

Not totally sure as I just searched for TC-P60S30 "A" board so I don't know if I got results for the correct board or not.

You would need to know the board number (printed on the board itself) to be sure.

Then again it may be another problem somewhere else in the TV entirely because if it is a blown fuse on the A board there's always a reason why a fuse blows. Rarely if ever do they fail of their own accord.

Further testing would be required and also a supply of appropriate fuses as well just in case ;-)
