MODDED Slow Boot and App Change

My friend recently bought an already modded 3DS, and it worked just as you’d expect. He formatted it and wanted to re-mod it his own way. Now that he’s going through the steps he’s running into many issues.

The main problem is a slow boot, and any time he goes from an app to the Home Screen, it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute.

It’s a New 3DS XL, he’s using a 32 GB Fat32 SanDisk micro SD Card, and his system is fully up to date.

What exactly did he do, and what guide is he using? If he's still working on it, tell him to stop immediately

@darthmango So short story long, he bought an already modded New 3DS XL. He factory reset it to re-mod it, and this brought up one problem. When he pressed the power button it would flash the blue light for a second then turn off. We fixed this by formatting the sd card to Fat32 and putting

Luma’s boot.firm. Since that it has been slow to boot and slow to change apps.

He’s been using Anton Retro’s 11.16 “How to Homebrew your Nintendo 3ds” guide.

@ajburke OK, couple problems here. First, there's only one trusted guide for 3ds hacking, which is 3ds.hacks.guide. Second, factory resetting it doesn't delete b9s, so he can't "re-mod" it. Why was he trying to do that in the first place?

@darthmango We’ve been following that guide too, it’s what I used for my DS. We dragged in all the CFW files like Luma, b9s, etc and it was able to boot, the problem is now its booting slowly and that’s the problem I can’t seem to fix.

@ajburke How long does it take to boot? And what do you mean you dragged in b9s?

If you hold START then power on does it boot into GodMode9? Alternatively if you hold SELECT then power on does it boot into Luma3ds? What sector size on the sd card? Have you tried a different sd card? I read that Anton Retro's guide. Not very streamlined. Try searching "What would happen if you format your modded 3ds", guys handle is sthetix, that guys guides are pretty fluid and direct. Didn't link to him because I'm not sure if such things violate ifixit terms.

I think you missed the point of the question entirely. Also, the only trusted guide for 3ds hacking is 3ds.hacks.guide, please don't reccomend others

A thousands pardons but I disagree.

His friend formatted an already modded 3ds and then re-modded it and now it isn't running correctly. That is the point.

Some things to check are confirmation that it's modded correctly. Hence, check if you are able to get into godmode9 and or luma. If not...that might give a clue as to what went wrong. Check sector size on sd card. I would consider those things to be part of basic troubleshooting on a modded 3ds misbehaving. Basic troubleshooting yeah? So no I didn't miss the point, I gave basic troubleshooting advice.

With regards to guides, you are free to trust whatever guide you trust. Other people trust other guides. That's called personal choice. Have a nice day.
