Hi Filip,

From the User Manual for your laptop, the light on the power button has the following descriptions.

  • On: The computer is on.
  • Blinking: The computer is in the Sleep state.
  • Off: The computer is off.

So that says your computer has gone to sleep but for some reason pressing the power button isn't waking it up. Of course, the manual isn't helpful in this case. Here's what it has to say about the Power Button.

  • When the computer is in the Sleep state, press the button briefly to exit Sleep.

You might try their suggestions for an unresponsive computer.

If the computer is unresponsive and you are unable to use the preceding shutdown procedure, try the following emergency procedures in the sequence provided:

  • Press ctrl+alt+delete. Click the Power icon, and then click Shut Down.
  • Press and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds.
  • Disconnect the computer from external power.
  • On models with a user-replaceable battery, remove the battery.

Finally, here's the last item on their list that looks relevant to your situation.

=== The computer screen is blank ===

If the screen is blank but you have not turned off the computer, one or more of these settings may be the cause:

  • The computer may be in the Sleep state. To exit Sleep, briefly press the power button. Sleep is an energy-saving feature that turns off the display. Sleep can be initiated by the system while the computer is on but is not in use, or when the computer has reached a low battery level. To change these and other power settings, right-click the Battery icon on the Windows desktop in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar, and then click Preferences.
  • The computer may not be set to display the image on the computer screen. To transfer the image to the computer screen, press fn+f4. On most models, when an optional external display, such as a monitor, is connected to the computer, the image can be displayed on the computer screen or the external display, or on both devices simultaneously. When you press fn+f4 repeatedly, the image alternates among the computer display, one or more external displays, and simultaneous display on all devices.

some times it may not turn on properly so press it once again you will be taken back to the sleep page press the spacebar once or twice and continue using your laptop. this type of issue is more common in hp laptops because sometimes they do not register the shut down properly which results in them staying in the sleep mode. and in some cases including mine the speaker start to make wired noise but there is nothing to worry about. this issue can come in cheap and expensive laptops(its just a wired thing with hp)
