Why is 4 red lights blinking?

I recently took apart my DS3 and put it back together, ever since then I have received 4 flashing red lights everytime i plug it in. It does not give off any lights when unplugged

Edit: I have used the reset button and switched batteries.

Sounds like the board isn't connected to the battery properly and isn't charging. Open it up and check all the connections.

Hey and thanks for answering! Shouldn't the controller work with unplugged battery whilst connected with usb?

door

@thimstr I don't think so. Usb is purely for charging and not actual power.

@strongbow Well, I switched with a brand new battery yesterday and I got the exact same results, sorry for not providing this info firsthand.

door

@thimstr obviously the battery is connected. Have you tested voltage to the battery connector with a multimeter with the cable connected? Check the voltage on the new battery too.

door

@strongbow Thanks for the suggestion, I would have to bring home a multimeter from work, is there anything else I could check in the meanwhile?
