Compressor not turning off during defrost
I have an LG LFX39125ST. The compressor is not shutting off during defrost cycle. Does that mean I need a new board?

Here's the service manual for the refrigerator.
Go to p.80, Section 14-1-15 Defect Diagnosis Function to see how to check if there are any error codes being stored.
On p.21 it shows what the error codes mean and on p.23 onwards it describes what to check for each error code.
Hopefully a start.

Yea. I’ve been through the manual and done other trouble shooting. There was a FS error, so I replaced the sensor. All good. But now there are no error codes even using the smart diagnose functionality. But there is obviously a problem if the compressor doesnt shut off in defrost mode. I also replaced the freezer defrost sensor/shutoff. I also verified all fans working properly. Frost pattern on freezer coil indicative of compressor problem, but I suspect it is not able to properly defrost because the compressor is running while in defrost mode.

Did you try the forced defrost in Test Mode on p.45, not sure if you did and is what you meant by other troubleshooting?
I would also check the defrost temp sensor is reading accurately.
Looking at p.80 Sect. 14.1.14 the defrost cycle stops if the temp is 8°C or more, so if the sensor is always registering this for some reason then perhaps the defrost cycle wouldn't happen. This sensor is not the one that would be used to show the temp on the display. See p.51 (and also p.47 for the sensor resistance chart). Also the diagnostic test mode only checks if all of the sensors are short circuit or open circuit not if they're registering the correct resistance value for whatever the temp is at the time.
If everything checks out OK then as you say it most probably is the control board.
