Clean the limescale on the kettle

We have a disc electric kettle at work, we use it for more than a year, there was a scale on the disc, it became unpleasant to drink tea. Just rinse and rinse does not help, what can you clean? I would be glad to hear your suggestions!

Fill pot to minimum level, add a teaspoon of cream of tartar. Stir contents or swirl the pot a couple of time to mix the powder with the water. Boil water until it shuts off. Pour out contents. Rinse pot several times.

Buy some citric acid power and put a table spoon to the kettle with water. Boil the kettle and most of the calcium should break off and dissolve. After the kettle has cooled rinse with water and wipe clean. If it has not removed all the limescale just repeat. Citric acid is food safe and natural.

Run vinegar through it (boil it) a time or three this will remove the mineral deposits repeat until you see its all good. The vinegar is acidic and especially heated eats the basic lime away.

Agreed. Vinegar makes an excellent calcium/lime deposit remover. OP make sure you let the vinegar sit on the scale build-up so that it has time to work!

Brandon is right you can heat it before end of day then leave it soak overnight (off, for safety)

You could even use some lemon juice or something as well

Anything mildly acidic,. Yes. Coke for example LOL.

This also works on shower heads and so on. As Brandon pionted out soaking helps so does agitation. Heat speeds up chemical reactions. A bit of scrubbing once softened helps too.

Baking soda is wonderful stuff for removing/controlling odors, will cut grease quite well and lots of other things but its a base, not an acid so this will work to control odors, yes.
