So depending on the device that you have you may need to remove the Write Protect Screw. From there you need to enable developer mode on your device by pressing the “esc”, “refresh” and “power” keys. From there you can follow the onscreen prompts to enable developer mode.

After developer mode is enabled you’ll need to use CROSH commands to modify your devices BIOS settings.

Their’s actually a very good guide that you can find here, but I recommend looking up the specific steps for doing such for your specific Chrome Device.

In addition, if your device is associated with an enterprise then I would check to make sure you can enable developer mode.

On this particular Chromebook, you cannot install regular Windows, as the Chromebook has an ARM-based CPU.

@andrewsawesome Hello, Microsoft does actually have an ARM build for windows. I recommend checking it out, it's actually kinda dope.

why would you want to put sh…y windows on a chromebook, which is virus safe and quick running. get a cheap windows computer instead and sell the chromebook

Hey there @mayerhofer80927, I switched your answer to a comment, as it serves more of a question to why you would want to do go through this process. To answer your question, part of why you would want to do this is to extend the life of the physical hardware, rather then purchasing a whole new device.

Hope this is helpful

Since this computer has an ARM-based CPU, you cannot Install regular Windows on it. I would recommend seeing what apps you can get through the linux experience built directly into Chrome OS. Some applications made for Linux will not work with an ARM CPU.

You may be able to use virtualization to emulate Windows, but considering the specifications of your computer, I imagine that would be a poor experience. If you want to run Windows, it would probably be a better idea to get a Windows or Mac laptop.

Question: How to do this

Answer: That wouldn't be possible on a Chrome computer! Windows and Chrome OS are two unrelated operating systems. So that means you would not be able to put Windows OS on your computer.

Solution: Just buy a Windows computer to be able to use Windows OS.

Well, that's not completely true. Window's does have minimum requirements, but as long as the device meets those requirements, then it does not matter what the previous OS is, because you are going to overwrite it.

@jmehnert However, since this device has an ARM-based CPU, it does not meet the requirements for regular Windows.

than install a linux version on it; lots of different ones which can lok like windows and don't need sophicated hardware. I have ubuntu on an old laptop and works nice and smooth
