Brand new hard drive already corrupted

Hi folks. My ipod classic started freezing/stopped playing songs, itunes said it was corrupted so tried a few different fixes which worked temporarily but in the end I bought a new ssd and installed that. Now after less than a week I am experiencing the same issues making me think it might not be the hard drive that is the cause, maybe the logic board, maybe itunes itself?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

@chrisniow this could be based on your ROM/RAM. Double check the size of your library and your firmware version.

Firmware is as up to date as possible (2.0.4) and had higher bit rate songs set to download at 286kbps. Have now set to 192 kbps which seems to have temporarily fixed the issue, but it seems strange that this has only happened recently and there was still about 80gb free on the old hard drive and now 194gb free on the replacement hard drive. Don't suppose you have any other insight?

Thanks for the help thus far though!

@chrisniow I do know that if the library is to large the ROM/RAM can't do the processing and will exhibit symptoms pretty much like your iPod is having now. Even this "286kbps. Have now set to 192 kbps which seems to have temporarily fixed the issue" points to it. What model is your logic board. There should be a 820-XXXX number on it.

@chrisniow 8000 songs is still a lot! Try putting only about 100 songs on your iPod and see what happens. If it works fine then you have too many songs. Of not then you may have a logic board problem.

@oldturkey03

Yeah library is only 8000 songs. Same issue is now happening as before after dropping to even 128 kbps.

where would that number be located? I can't seem to find find an 820 number, nearest thing I can find to that grouping is 805 - 7973 but thats on the housing for the usb connection

@diode_cool Its definitely getting to the point where it seems to be the only option, it just seems super strange to me that it basically happened out of the blue? I hadn't added any new songs before it started playing up and they are supposed to be able to take up to like 20,000 songs right? So 8000 should be a breeze

You can get a new motherboard there is a place that has all of the parts for ipad classics. I would have to look them up if you are interested.

Where can you find motherboards? I had a look but couldn't find a retailer? Although I'm not keen on getting a motherboard unless I know thats actually the problem
