Can I ask something about PS3 YLOD fix kit?

Hello Ifixit.com

I have a problem with my PS3. Last week it got the Yellow Light of Death (YLOD). Now, I'm going to order your PS3 YLOD Fix Kit. But I live in Greece and I read that the heat gun is only for US orders. So I want to ask you: Can I use a hair dryer instead a heat gun?

Solder in general will not even begin to soften or melt until about 190°F or 90 C, and that is for the less expensive stuff. Alloys that melt between 180 and 190 °C (360 and 370°F) are the most commonly used. Your hair dryer will have a maximum temperature of 140F or 60C. So, I personally see no way to get anything accomplished with a hair dryer. You could try to purchase a hot air gun on either ebay or Google for your geographical area. Hope this helps, good luck.
