cover under screen broke off
my laptop fell and the plastic piece that covers the hinges for the display part broke off. any way I can reattach it?

Do you mean the LCD front bezel (supplier example only)?
Here’s the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop, taken from this webpage
Go to p.61 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the LCD unit. This should give you access to the bezel to see if it can be reattached or if it is broken, be replaced.
Here’s the parts list for your laptop. Click on Select Commodity > LCD Parts (11) to find the LCD bezel part number 5B30S18885.
Search online using the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.
