Rear wheels have no traction

So my young son has been obsessed with removing tyres from his vehicles and Lightning was no exception. After 2 years of losing the tyre it was found again but now lightning has no rear traction on smooth or carpeted services. I've cleaned out dirt, used wd40 to lubricate but to no avail.

What am I missing? I've never worked on a RC car before so conplete rookie.

Thanks for your help.

Hello! Does the car have traction with all of the tires placed on the wheels?

door

Sadly no. Wheels spin fine when in the air but car doesn't move when on the ground even on smooth surfaces.

door

@Claire Dombera So the wheels will not spin when they are on the ground?

door

They try but can't move even with new batteries.

door

They kind of vibrate

Unfortunately, due to the information you have provided above, it sounds like your toy car has a bad gearbox motor or a bad axle. You can find replacements for these online, and I can help diagnose the problem further if you open up your toy car and send a picture of what it looks like.

Thank you. I'll send images tomorrow. :)

It looks like the gearbox motor inside of your toy car has been stripped. These are very cheap to replace.

So sorry I completely missed this answer. Thanks so much Bob. Let me try and find one. :)

@Claire Dombera I'm not sure what Bob is seeing. The gears all look fine, though the loose strands from the wires attached could be causing an issue if they're shorting out the current... with it open and in the air, make it run. Then, set it down, and look inside and try again, watching what is moving inside of it. Might be a problem with the motor internally.
