iPhone XS has got ripped out earpiece flex cable, can I get face id?

hello, i’ve bought an iphone xs from my friend, and he has ripped out the earpiece flex cable (it’s missing), if i’ll buy a new earpiece part will i be able to save faceid somehow? thank you a lot.

Yes, it can be fixed in most cases. You will need to buy another one and remove the proximity sensor and flood illuminator. then remove the original proximity sensor and flood illuminator from the original damaged one and solder them back to the new one. here’s a link of the job… https://youtu.be/jTApmrKe6Bs

@teetopp The original flex cable with the original proximity sensor and flood illuminator were lost as stated in the post meaning FaceID is permanently lost for this device.

Not possible unfortunately. FaceID is paired between the original flex and logic board, so any replacement will function correctly, but not restore FaceID.

You're correct if you just swap them out with a replacement... but the 2 pieces that are serialized can be moved over to a new flex to retain the face id in most cases... original proximity sensor and flood illuminator
