You may be able to repair it yourself.

The glass is part of the screen assembly and if it is cracked or not working the screen assembly will have to be replaced.

Here’s a video that shows how to replace the battery in the device. It is useful as it shows how to open the device so that the screen can be accessed and replaced. Watch out for any locking bars on the screen flex cable connector on the circuit board that may have to be flipped up to release the cable from the connector. Study it first and don’t just simply pull it out.
