Is the Original AGS-001 Less Efficient than Newer AGS-001s?

I have what I suspect is an initial release AGS-001 (1st version of the PCB) and it has always had terrible battery life. I have tried swapping batteries and even replaced the screen with no change in battery performance. Most I can get is about 3-4 hours with the front light off. Anybody seen this? The system works fine otherwise.

Matt Lichenstein  battery efficiency is usually greatly influenced by the firmware. In your case the only thing you can really try is to get a good quality battery. Stay away from place like Amazon or Ebay.

It was like this with the OEM battery. I've had this SP since the mid 2000s. I actually still have that battery. It lasts longer in my other ags-101 which seems a little newer.

I didn't think it could be in the firmware, heck I didn't think there could be different versions. I was thinking more along the lines of the motherboard's circuit layout having an influence.
