Lg magic remote - select button not working

This video shows how to open the remote. Take note of the update where it says to use an old credit card to try and open it. My personal experience with opening other similar remote controls is that a credit card will cause less cosmetic damage to the case than a sharp bladed tool and definitely less than a screwdriver.

This video shows how to replace the scroll wheel spindle, although the comments below the video seem mixed as to whether a broken spindle only affects the scroll action or also the select function as well.
