Display connector broken and external monitor doesnt work

Hi,

I got an iMac from my uncle who tried upgrading to an ssd and broke the display connector while doing so. I cant get an external monitor to work and i am trying to install high sierra with my macbook onto the ssd and then hope that i can maybe get a picture onto the monitor. When turning on, the fans spin normally without any loud noises and i can hear the boot chime. Does anyone have an idea how to save the imac from being sold for parts?

Edit: So i know for sure that the imac imac works, it starts normally high sierra and I can log in (without seeing anything, but i can hear the sound it makes when pressing random keys) it just doesnt work with my monitor. I already did a pram reset but it still doesnt trigger my monitor.

I think it might be the graphics card? How can i confirm this without seeing anything?

Ouch! Not good!

The pads have been fully peeled off. You will need a new logic board to fix this as that would be the cheaper than having someone patch things together. As an example: 27” iMac - 2.66GHz i5 Logic Board

You still may need a new cable if its damaged as well.

Yeah i know, I don't want to buy a new logic board, but maybe there is a way to use an external monitor with the imac?

I know! There must be a way... The logic board wiring to all a mess!

You'll need to re-wire all of the broken traces, not an easy task! You'll need access to the schematics and board view drawings and if you're lucky a week or so of work you should be able to recover your logic board. If you have the time the tools and skills that works! Or which is a lot faster and a sure thing replace the logic board.
