You’ll need to transfer the home button to the new screen to maintain TouchID and in some devices, maintain the return to home function when the button is pressed. The home buttons with TouchID on Apple products are paired to each board with a unique key that cannot be transferred or reprogrammed. Some screen assemblies may have a new button attached but it’s either a dummy or will only return to home when the button is pressed.

hey Jese, thanks for your response.

So let me see if I understood correctly:

I want to change the broken screen for a new one

But the new one i buy may or may not come with a new button, in case that it doesnt, thats where the home button of my broken screen comes to play.

So unistall the home button of the broken one to replace it on the new screen?

im new to this, and im thinking of doing this myself, so my doubt is still present, i want to be sure i understand everything.

thank you again

@jsdido Read the first sentence in my response. Just take your time and be careful as they're fragile. This video is for an iPad 7 but the same principles can apply. Just be aware that you're attempting the repair at your own risk. Nobody is liable for damages. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSsfmptO...
