The Bose Wave Radio AWR1-1W, also known as the Bose Wave Radio I, was released in 1993. A countertop AM/FM radio system with a high performance stereo tuner and two independent alarms.

Display malfunction on clock radio

Hello… I have a Bose Wave AWR1-w1. The LED display is malfunctioning. When I first plug it in I can set the clock and turn on the radio I can set to a station. But fairly quickly the display gets all wonky, blinking all sorts of words and the numbers are not displaying correctly. The radio works fine but as I push any buttons the display led becomes unreadable to know what station it’s set at. Many words a lit up at once and blinking sometimes. Is there anything that can be done to fix this problem or replacement parts available to purchase?

Thanks

I would first try the recommended reset sequence:

https://www.bose.com/en_us/support/artic...

They suggest replacing the battery if it begins working okay after plugging it back in.

If that doesn’t fix it not sure where you go from there.

Send it back and get a different brand. I purchased a brand new one,it gobbled my cd they sent me a totally new one and it wouldn't take my cd after about playing 3 in a row. Asked for a refund and got it right away.Good customer but lousy overpriced product! Boxing it up twice and taking it down to UPS was a pain!

I used the link provided to access the reset but none is listed for the Wave Radio. Another location possible?

@rascal69 we are cursed here on ifixit by unfeeling manufacturers who obsolete URL's on their sites willy-nilly all the time. Your next and probably last option is to try and find it on the waybackmachine sometime around summer of 2020. Hopefully they have that entry archived there. Found it on the waybackmachine.... I will post that content below since the wayback machine is a pain for most people...

Reset your Wave Radio by following these steps:

1. Turn the radio off

2. Unplug the power cord from the power outlet

3. Remove the battery located in the bottom of the radio. Wait 30 Seconds

4. Reconnect the power cord

5. Test the radio. If the radio operates properly, replace the battery with a new one
