Fixing pressure distortion after battery replacement

Hello everybody,

I finally managed to replace the battery of my iPad, and it went mostly well, but I’ve seemingly made the mistake of entering the sides of my IPad to deeply the with a thin plastic.

I suspect that because of that, I might have loosened the glue of the LCD to the digitizer a little, or pushed some of the glue that holds the screen to the frame betwixt the LCD and the digitizer.

Now I have this discoloration at the edge.

I was wondering if it might be possible to heat the glue again in order to reflow it and relieve the pressure, but I’d love to hear what the experts have to say!

By no means am I an expert but from the few screen replacements I have done, personally I do not think that just re-flowing the glue would work.


If you have the machines to perform a glass only repair then I would say that would be your best option to just play it safe and replace the glass itself.


I mean I am a beginner myself and only done a few replacements so I may be wrong & there might be some crazy way around doing it but please let me know if you find a way to do this as I would love to learn myself.

I had that same problem changing the battery of ipad air 2 and it was the following. There is a metal on the back of the rear camera piece and the I passed the plastic to open the screen embedded in the internal lcd and digitizer and the screen stalk was seen with a pressure mark. the other is similar to yours, which was on the side and is embedded glue and internal lcd paper that must be removed carefully and with time. I hope it can help you or someone. At the end of everything the brands were gone and it was like new.
