It sounds like you left your gas cap off or didn't tighten it. Make its tight end have an auto parts store erase the code. It's an emission code and it comes on a lot because people leave the gas cap off. It won't hurt anything. After you erase the code and if it comes back again I would first try replacing the gas cap.

Yes like the gentleman said it possible it could be the Gas Cap is Loose, Also the Rubber seal around gas Cap is hard or cracked Not Sealing Completely.. Also its possible it's a Vapor Emission hose that Crack & letting Vapors Escape?? Or bad check valve that's not closing Completely.. Vapor leaks are real touchie & time consuming to find the Problem.. You have basically 5 items that should be checked…Wish you best of Luck!! DANNY Mechanic

Its not an easy fix, fuel for 41 consist of emmission control vapors going back too the tank, it could be various things, me myself I will start by checking the purge valve and make sure it's not leaking check all vacuum hoses make sure they're not cracked check all plastic fittings and check the solenoid valveit's going to take some time checking each part individually but that's about the only way to fix a problem what I usually do I like cigar disconnect the vacuum hose going to all the vacuum vapor parts blow smoke into the vapor line have somebody outside see ing if they see smoke coming out of any lines any parts solenoid valves anything and if they do that's where your problem is what you're actually doing is looking for a vapor leak I hope this will help you…DANNY MECHANIC.

Be careful with gas cap replacement. I have a 2006 Hyundai Elantra that ended up having a different type of threading for the gas cap. A mechanic replaced the gas cap with the alleged right one that is listed for the car. It seemed to screw in correctly and then reset the code. The code soon tripped again. After doing all the testing and finding nothing wrong, another mechanic looked closer at the cap while it was on the car and realized it was not fitting correctly. It stumped him because none of his other Elantras had a gas cap that would thread into it properly. He soon found a gas cap from a 2015 Chevy Equinox that had the same two eared kind of alignment and turn to secure the cap in with a proper seal. Reset the code and have not had a problem since.
