Remove hard drive within and copy contents

Hi all,

May I know how to:

  1. Remove hard drive from this iMac model? (I got this: iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2308 Optical Drive Replacement)
  2. Type of the built-in hard drive? 2.5” SATA hard drive, or, 3.5” SATA hard drive, or, Optical Drive?
  3. Copy contents from it to my external which connected to another iMac?
  4. Tools I need for the whole process? Torx T10 Screwdriver? Maiwo 2.5" SATA HDD & SSD USB3.0 Enclosure? Any other tools I need?

Thanks.

3 - Understanding the Applications for Target Disk Mode

4 - The guide lists the needed tools

From what you posted as images it appears you are trying to add a SSD. If thats correct you’ll want this kit iMac Intel 21.5" and 27" (Late 2009-Mid 2010) SSD Upgrade Kit which has the needed tools.

Not to replace, but to remove it, copy its contents to another iMac and wipe its data within it completely.

Reason: the old iMac’s display are completely off.
