Vertical Lines issues but not the Tcon Board

Powers on just fine, switches inputs, but these vertical lines continue to appear. I did swap the T-con board with the same results. No capacitors seem blown, I have “jiggled” every ribbon cable I have access to see if it alters the vertical lines, but no luck. I just cannot figure this one out!

Hi,

If they are always in the same spot, it may be the TAB connections to the panel.

If the TAB connections to the panel seem to be OK and since you’ve changed the tcon board, then it is in the panel.

Can you define "TAB" connections"? But yes I replaced the board but none of the ribbon cables.

Hi @Randum G ,

The TAB are what the connectors or boards are called that the signal from the tcon goes to, they connect to the panel itself.

These connections are very delicate and can lift off the panel or the boards themselves may go faulty. Usually if the line is black it means that the connection has lifted. If coloured then the "gate" driver on the board may be stuck in the on mode or faulty.

In any case if applying pressure to the tabs above where the lines are to re-establish a good connection which is then maintained (tape?), doesn't solve the problem then the panel will have to be replaced as repairing these is not an option

Here's a video that explains it better than I can

This is incredible help! And based on what I understand, this looks like the culprit! This was a garbage find so might not be worth a panel replace, but I'll check all those tabs.

Hi @Randum G

If you can't fix it and either can't find a replacement panel or it is too expensive, consider advertising the "boards" for sale as they appear to be working OK. There is always some demand for good working TV boards, i.e. tcon, power & mainboard

Since the TV cost you nothing, whatever you make puts you in front.

Just a thought.;-)
