Hi @karebear12 ,

It may be that there is a LED backlight problem with the TV. Although it could be a different cause that is the problem.

Try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen when the TV is on and you have audio, to see if you can detect any images at all on the screen. They will be very faint if they are there at all, so trying this in a darkened room may help.

Then try the following:

Turn off the TV (if on) and disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove the back cover from the TV.

Be safety aware when the back cover is removed from the TV and also if you go to test for the voltages as there is exposed lethal AC voltage on the power board especially near to where you will be testing.

Disconnect the cable that is between the power board and the mainboard.

Reconnect the TV power cord to the wall outlet

Turn on the TV.

The TV LED backlights should come on and stay on. There will be no picture because the mainboard is disconnected.

Turn off the TV and disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet before deciding what to do next

If the backlights do not come on and you can see images when using a torch, then you have either a power board problem or a LED strip array problem. Use a voltmeter to measure the voltage at the LED connector cable connection point on the power board. If it measures >220VDC then the problem is in the LED array. If it measures <30VDC then the problem is in the power board. Here’s a video that shows how to test the LEDs in a TV. It is made easier if you have a LED tester - example only although it can be done without one (see video)

If the backlights come on and you can’t see images when using a torch, then most likely you have a tcon board, tcon -mainboard ribbon cable (or cable connection) or mainboard problem.
