Why is my bluetooth speaker muting after a few seconds?

I've got a JBL Go. Pretty old I know, but it does the job and I never wanted anything more or bigger.

Recently it's been bugging out occasionally where after turning it on and it connects to my laptop, the audio plays for say, 5 seconds before it mutes

• The speaker itself is still on and connected
• Whatever is playing on my laptop (music file, youtube video, video file, etc) still continues to progress normally and doesn’t pause
• Problem occurs even after recently charged

This is resolved temporarily after I remove the speaker from the bluetooth devices list and reconnect it, but around 3 days later it'll happen again, even with factory reset.

Is there a way to resolve this permanently that doesn't boil down to buying a new one? (Though if I have to send it to a workshop for repairs, I wager it’d be cheaper to buy a new one)
