Announced on October 16, 2014, the iPad Air 2 is a thinner successor to the iPad Air.

Does probe points matter?

Hello I have a question, I wonder if all these probe points (I mean clear pads on motherboards, in iPad air 2 these pads are on bottom side of motherboard) matter ? Will be there any problem if I sudenly rip one of these pads off ? I have a motherboard with 2 ripped pads and it doesn’t work and I wonder if this motherboard isn’t working because ripped 2 pads or they don’t matter at all and I have to search somewhere else ?

PS: photo doesn’t shows my broken board, I put it just to show you what pads I have on my mind.

Thanks for any help

sofles we would need to see YOUR board to see what possibly could be damaged.

On bottom side of the iPad board, beside probe points there is a number of passives, resistors and capacitors, I’d be inclined to think if pads have been ripped off there might have been something attached to it. Hard to tell without any testing, but a missing resistor may be enough to cause a failure.

I have checked and there is nothing, just clear pads. two of them are ripped of the board and I can see veeeery tiny pin in the middle but bottom larger pin is ripped and that's why I wonder if these pins are just for measurement or they are connecting traces ?

@sofles I can't really figure out the extent of the damage without a picture. In principle if it's just a probe point it shouldn't cause any issue.
