iMac mid 2010 screen Problem!

Hey guys, I have an iMac 27-inch, mid 2010, and there is a problem with it that has been happening for over 2 weeks now. I would like to know your suggestion about what is the problem and how can I fix it.

The problem is that the display turns off randomly during the day, the screen go black, but the iMac continue to runs, play sounds and music, the programs keep running and everything, but the screen shuts down and go black for a few minutes. If i restart the machine the display start to function normally right away, and them it shut down in a matter of few minutes or hours.

The issue is happening on the MacOS and Windows, since I have both in my HD. I've tried to run a benchmark, furmark and watch the temperatures, but all seem to be normal, except the HD that is a little hotter than the usual, the HD is around 55ºC. Today i was using the machine for less than an hour and the machine was cold, and even then the display went black, I don't know if it is a heating issue. I used for 2 days and did not occurred in the weekend, but now in Monday is happening again!

Do you guys know this problem and what is causing the screen to shut down and not the computer? The screen comes back after a while and the machine continues to run normally.

The specs are iMac 27-inch, mid 2010, MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 Intel i3 3,2 GHz, 12 GB ddr3 ram, HD5670 512MB.

This sounds like a failing LED driver board, but to check, please hook up an external monitor and let us know if the issue persists.

If the external monitor works we can go after the LED board. You can replace it but first I would examine it for cold solder joints. But the board is cheap and it might be far easier to just replace it.

Thanks for your answer, I will definitely do it, I have tried to stress the machine to see if it was the Graphics, but the screen did not go black during the tests, it's really random when it happens, I thought that could be the connecting cable between the board and the display, but your answer made much more sense, I will test now with an external monitor for a few days to see if the issue continues! Thanks!

Hello Mayer, I have tested with an External monitor and it worked. The iMac display turned Black and the external monitor kept running normally, so I think it's not a Graphic Card issue. Then I think that is the Backlight Board that you said. However I am finding two different boards, they have a different design and components, and the sellers says that they would work, check the links you put in the answer you'll see that in the images the two boards are diffent. Can I choose any Backlight board design?

@leandro_smg It's the same LED driver board. One image is the front side and the other the back side.
