Punctured battery while replacing, help

As I was replacing the battery on my iPad 3 I accidentally punctured the battery and I have now (as of the time I am posting this) gone two days ago without touching the battery and leaving it in a place where it won’t catch fire. Is there anything I can do to take out the battery safely? It is also important to not that I took out the logic board and I was planning on replacing the battery anyways. The battery did also smoke up the first time and when I tried removing it more it caught fire. If I go back will it explode or am I safe?

These batteries tend to flame and smoke when the plates touch. I have never heard of one exploding yet.

Always keep yourself safe with Li-Ion batteries. They are evil.

I doubt a repair shop will touch it.

I would go outside and do it.

Disconnect the battery making sure it is not glued to the shell and launch it.

If it flames out, no biggy. Now connect your new one.
