What are symptoms of the timing being off?

Changed the water pump and timing belt, I tightened the belt and now my car doesn’t sound the same. Why? I don’t know if the timing is off but the car doesn’t start up the way it did before.

This was answered previously in your same question "Car won't start." Go there via above or your profile page, and look at the schematic posted there for the timing marks placement, which would have avoided guessing had you looked.

When removing timing belt make marks on both camshaft and crankshaft that show the exact orientation then when reinstalling line those marks up.

If it runs without backfiring much you are very close to the original configuration and may be only a gear tooth off.

Find top dead center of #1cylinder piston and Mark Crankshaft, do this by removing sparkplug of #1 cyl. and using a straw or something similar, place it in the sparkplug hole then turn crankshaft until the straw comes out the farthest, this will be tdc max compression stroke of #1. Then move the Camshaft one tooth to the right then install belt and start to see if it runs better or worse, if worse go back and move one tooth to the left.
