Single green horizontal line on laptop screen?

I have a HP 250 G5 laptop and a single, thin, green, horizontal line has appeared across the middle of the screen.

On a white background the line is hardly noticeable but any other colour and its visible.

I’m a novice but i’ve tried the easy steps in case it’s software related like system restore, updating graphics drivers, lowering refresh rate but no success.

The line appears above the cursor and is still there when i reboot to BIOS settings.

Does anyone know what the problem could be ??

Thank you for any help..

Hi @hustlepremium ,

Try connecting an external monitor and check if it is there also.

Most likely though it is a faulty display panel or a faulty LVDS cable or cable connection.

Here’s a link to the service manual for the laptop.

Scroll to p.78 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the display assembly. This should allow you to also inspect the cable connections.

If you determine that it is a faulty panel, on p.77 you’ll find the part numbers for the panels available for the different variant models. (Usually the part number is printed on the back of the panel if you wish to verify which one you have).

Search online using the part number only in the search box of your browser to get results for suppliers.

@Lalith Reddy

Did you try connecting an external monitor as suggested above?

What is the model number of the laptop?

If the problem is determined to be with the laptop's LCD screen then there is no other option other than to replace it as they cannot be repaired

Laptop screen needs to be replaced. These lines usually occur from the display panel bending / flexing or too much pressure being applied on them.
