Why is my solenoid overheating?
I have replaced the solenoid in my 94 ezgo. However, it is still overheating to the point where I can’t touch it and obviously burns the cables. Thanks!

that could be caused by a few things. Make sure that it has proper ground. Ensure that you have the right size wiring. Clean all corrosion from any of the cable connections. A bad starter which is drawing to high an amperage could be another issue as well as a shortened cables that carry ground to the solenoid. Check to make sure the insulation is not shaved off anywhere etc. Let us know what you find.

I wanted to add that the solenoid is overheating while parked. After I replaced the solenoid the cart sat for 2 days and when I came back it was too hot to touch and had created some arching. Hoping this helps a little on some potential diagnoses.
@pdubz that sounds like a short to ground. Definitely check the wiring first.
