Question:

When I replace my current hard drive with e.g. one of larger capacity as you write how do I get the operating system, drivers etc. on the new Hard Drive?

I think there was no CD added to this Laptop.

you have to install it from a USB drive. Something like this will be a good start. The drivers can be downloaded from the HP site

Or you can copy the OS to the hard drive on a different machine (connected via a USB as an external drive), then install the drive and then the OS

You can also use a drive enclosure and drive cloning software to clone your existing drive's data onto your new drive.
