Hi gang, I have a 2001 Club Car DS 4 stroke gas engine. Problem is small but it irks me that I cant seem to find the solution. When the cart is in the forward position it goes backwards and vice versa..,when its in the reverse position it goes forward. A little help please...chances are this is a simple fix but I guess I’m having a brain fart and cant figure it out.

Look at the motor. On one end of the motor (the side closest to the gearbox) the studs will be labeled S1 and S2 (for a Series cart) or F1 and F2 (for a sepex cart). Take those two cables off and swap them and your problem should be rectified

I’m not sure what a sepex cart is...you do realize that I’m talking about a gas engine right?

No luck finding the two studs to swap over the cables, just dont see it. Sorry....thanks for trying though, appreciate it.

The problem is someone has changed the motor. Earlier cc engines ran counter clock wise and the newer ones run clockwise hence your shifter works backwards

So does this reverse the gearing as well? Reverse gears should be lower than forward gears correct?
This seems to be the correct answer as my cart is the same way.

That’s great looking into it now, I don’t see those studs but will explore a bit more.
