Why does my samsung tab keep dropping my home wifi signal

I got this tablet for my dad I checked it out everything is in working order but even though this tablet stays home and is always connected to the Wi-Fi signal it always drops my signal out of nowhere when I go to the settings it says that the Wi-Fi is turned off not the actual box itself but actual status of the Wi-Fi signal stating turned off this !#^&@! me off or upsets me since I'm connected to a home Wi-Fi network this happens every once in a while and sometimes the connection is sturdy and won't be interrupted by other times when I am on Chrome or one of my apps that uses in that it's suddenly disconnects can someone explain to me how I can get this fixed or is it just an error that cannot be fixed please help me in addition a quick note no other device in my household suffers from this problem so I know it's not the Wi-Fi

This is not a Wi-Fi problem this is a Samsung Tab 4 problem that they seem to ignore. That is why I went with an iPad. I have been trying to solve this for 6 years and still does the same s***.

I too have a Samsung Galaxy tablet and it is constantly losing my home WIFI signal. Especially to my Nest Camera app. Samsung needs to address this issue.

Just to be clear i have 500mb fiber in my home with a 3 router ASUS mesh network. The issue is not internet or LAN.

Hi,

Try starting the tablet in safe mode and check if the WiFi gets turned off or not. Since you say that it is random you may have to use it in this mode for a while.

If it stays on then a downloaded app is the cause of the problem. The trick is to find out which one. You’ll need to uninstall the downloaded apps, one by one, and check the WiFi connection in normal mode, between each uninstallation to see if the problem is still there or not. Once the problem does not occur then the last app that you uninstalled will be the culprit.

Given that it is a random event it may take some time to find the problem.

Hi, I have a Samsung tab 2 7.0 and it keeps loosing actual signal. Not wifi, the actual network signal, what could be the reason for this? Any advise will help, my email is megand117@yahoo.com, not sure how to get back to this site if you answer. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Le'Mario Isom,

If the WiFi works OK in safe mode, (keep it in this mode until you are satisfied that it is OK), you'll have to start checking which downloaded app is making it turn off, if this is what is happening.

If the WiFi can't be be turned on when in safe mode (or in normal mode) you may have to perform a factory reset (backup all your data first) and check if the WiFi turns on.

If it still won't turn on then you may have a hardware problem with the WiFi controller.

If it turns on, check if it stays on and if it does and works OK restore the phone using the backup that you made earlier and then check if it now stays on. If it does then the "reset" has fixed the problem

That's not the problem I just wiped it clean no installed apps & it still doesn't work

i had similar problem, whereby my S2 tablet indicated I had WiFi signal, however, some apps would state Off Line. After several WiFi network resets and tweaking various settings to no avail, I isolated the issue to the Samsung Max app. It was deleted/uninstalled from the tablet and i have not had any further issues.

Hi @magand117,

Does the tablet maintain WiFi signal connection if the tablet is positioned right next to the router or WiFi access point?

If so there may be a problem with the tablet’s WiFi antenna, either a loose connection or it is faulty.

Here’s a link to a Samsung Galaxy Tab2 7.0 WiFi antenna repair guide which may be of some help.

Take note of the “comments” at the bottom of the page regarding some missing steps in the guide ;-)

Hi,

Thank you for responding, it is not a Wi-Fi problem.  The tablet does not keep my cellular provider network.  My phone actually looses network signal all the time.  So instead of have the H with the arrows, I get a circle with a line through it and cannot make calls or even sms.  Any idea what it might be?  Have googled plenty and have found one person with the same problem, but no solution from anyone.

Thanks

:)

Hi,

Apologies.

I misunderstood. Also I thought you had the WiFi model and not the LTE model ;-)

Have you checked the APN settings in Apps ➔ Settings ➔ More settings ➔ Mobile networks. to ensure that they are correct for your service provider? (go to your provider's website to check)

Can you try a different known working, network compatible SIM card in your tablet to see if using it maintains the connection or not?

Also try your SIM card in a known working network compatible phone and check if it works OK or not.

Basically swap SIM cards between two network compatible phones, yours and another.
