Print head works but printer gives error- custom firmare ideas?

The i wrote the whole thing but in short its like this.

I have tried resetting, cleaning the print head, but the print head is not working, the main goal of this thread not changing the printhead. As i cleaned the print head for about 4 times and reset the printer it gave me an error and it started printing two pages error reports.

The real question is if it can print then the Print Head is not damaged and it can be used so i am here to see if there is any custom firmware or hack or anything else of that nature, in order to force the printer to make it work regardless of these errors at all! you know something like if it shows printer ink is low just so just press okay or back key and that should go away, and it should not stay there or stop printer from printing regardless.

Thats why i am asking for help here. If there is a way to build a custom firmware or is there any custom firmware? or if it is possible to hack and mod this? if so then i'd like to give it a try please :)

Thanks for yoru time guys. it seems it is not making much sense? i do apologies, it is not something normal to be honest :)

Kind regards

Hi @supermaster ,

You're welcome but what is the problem with your printer?

door

Hi thanls, as I described in the post, its giving me print head error whilst it printed the error message so how is the print head kaput if it printed, so now I'm here to see if this can be overwritten to remove the error and get it working once again regardless of errors in the future.

Hi @supermaster ,

If you look at your post you may have submitted your problem as "tags" but most people just read the question and there is nothing in the actual "question" that describes the problem.

Now that it is more clear what the problem is, hopefully someone may have an answer.

Hi thanks for the reply, the printer is displaying print head error whilst it printed error messages!

yes I noticed that, I went on just posting the small version as my main question somehow ended up being just one line!?

I did fraud deal of messing with the printer and it hurts me to see a working printer is been controlled by a company firmware trying to fool is into buying another one whilst this one even as per the printer error message that said it's not working yet printed the error messages so how can it be not working and yet print messages left and right?

I just wanted to know if someone knew how to hack or mod this via anything be hardware or software to get rid of the error message and gain control of the printer and force it to print regardless of the printer status.

I hope I did enough to help you understand the problem and what I want? Please feel free to let me know if you want to know anything else.

I just joined this forum and love the material really awesome job you guys, well done!

Hi @supermaster ,

Try reseating the printhead to see if this resolves your problem.

Here’s a link that describes how to do it for your model series printer.

HP considers the printhead to be a consumable item, so if you have tried to reseat the printhead (try at least 3 times) and the problem is still there, then you’ll have to purchase a new printhead. The link also describes how to do that.

Hi @supermaster ,

ifixit mainly deals with hardware problems although you never know there may be someone who knows.

BTW did you mean to say re-seating the printhead? You said resetting which is a different thing depending on how you read it. ;-)

It's very common problem once the printer is out of warranty and try out non-HP catridges. IF the firmware accepts them... the firmware might just "damage" print head instead. see my other answer.

@jayeff I think @supermaster said it as he meant it.

Also HP support articles say you should try to (physically) re-seating the print head 3 times. Logically resetting of course might be a good idea if that helps.

I am sorry for not replying you earlier, the problem persist though I tried that too. I'm not sure why would a printer print error messages in full and wouldn't print the normal pages given? If it was damaged ss it claims then it should not be able to print the error messages or anything at all for that reason.
