The Xbox One Wireless Controller model 1697 was released in 2015 and replaced the model 1537 controller and fixed some of the problems found on Model 1537 controllers. The Model 1697 controller includes an integrated 3.5mm headset jack, which allows compatibility with most 3rd party headsets without the need of an adapter. This controller has been discontinued and replaced by the Model 1708 controller.

Xbox One Controller is Flashing Slowly and Won't Work.

So, last night, I turned off my console for the night and went to bed. This morning, I tried to turn the controller (and the console) back on to play. The console worked fine, and started right up. However, my controller started to blink slowly, and none of the buttons work. I've tried syncing it, changing the batteries, and unplugging the console, but it's still blinking. It only stops after I take a battery out, or leave it alone for a while. But if I press it's power button, it just blinks away (slowly, if that matters). Help?

I’ve tried all solutions and still nothing works! I’ve tried hard resets, battery changes, usb connecting, etc., Nothing seems to work. Even tired these things on a different console! I hope there’s still something that can be done and all hope isn’t lost!

Dude im in the same boat. I tried it all the home button new batteries the usb cord nothing works. Its saying not reading console

Maybe the controller is broken.Try bringing to a shop which knows how to fix these stuff.Never go to big name shops because they might try to make you buy a new one.Maybe your warranty is still valid? If you are brave enough maybe you can open up your xbox controller. But I dont recommend this at all.

door

im having the same problem with my two model 1708 (a standard issue One S controller) help?

door

Maybe try replacing it if your warranty isn't void. That is probably the best option if you cannot find out how to fix it.

If you continue having issues turning on your Xbox One Wireless Controller, check out this Xbox One Wireless Controller Won't Turn On Problem Page.

I had this same issue. Googled a bit and found this, since your question was the first to pop on my searcha nd was unanswered, I figured I would post what helped me.

/u/chubbybator. Here is what he said to do :

"Turn the xbox on, then hold the power light for 15 seconds. Then connect a controller via usb and press the home button on the controller. Once the box loads fully you should be able to disconnect the controller and everything should work normally again."

Worked like a charm. After holding power light (it blinked) light turned off when I released. But after connecting to USB on side of XBOX the controller worked, and kept working a half a minute later when I disconnected the USB. Thanks!

This just concluded me frantically googling and finding nothing helpful especially from Xbox support they just want you to buy a new controller

I recently had this issue too.

I fixed this by :

  • removing my plug-and-play battery
  • installing normal AA batteries into my controller
  • restarting my xbox one normally (switching it off and on with the power button on the console)
  • switching my controller on after my console had booted up

It turns out that even when charged (or plugged in with micro USB to my console), the plug-and-play battery was causing the issue. Removing the battery and directly plugging in my controller with a Micro-USB also did not fix this issue.

Posting this here in case this helps someone else fix this issue.

Note: this is not a guaranteed fix, but it solved it for me and is worth trying if other methods fail.

When I'm trying to play something the xbox home button keeps flashing slowly like every few minutes sometimes seconds. I've updated it I've tried holding the power button on the xbox for 10 seconds and then plugging in the controller via USB and pressing the home button on it, as that was advised on here.

But the home button on the controller just flashes no matter what I do and its annoying when you're trying to play a game and the controller just starts flashing. And yes I've tried different batteries turning it off and on again.

Ive had this issue from today, best way to fix it is: unplug your xbox, leave it for 5 minutes, then plug it back in

Next you want to put your whole xbox into pairing mode, and then put your controller into pairing mode and boom, it should be fixed

PS: make sure to do this with a controller that has batteries inside etc

I had this problem today and figured it out. All you have to do is press the sync button on your controller and the sync button on the front of the console.

Does it ask you to update your controller? Because I have the original controller with no audio jack and it simply will not pair with my Xbox, when I press the sync button it flashes slowly, then blinks for a few seconds and then turns straight off, I have tried just about every method I have seen after weeks of googling my issue, it will work up to where I sign in to which the controller becomes non responsive and it will only connect with usb, when I try to update it the controller disconnects from usb for absolutely no reason at all and reconnects again as soon as the update has started, the usb also did not move in any way so there's no way it unplugs every single time, if anyone has an ideas please let me know

I had the very same problem and tried many of the solutions given here, but to no avail. So I went and bought a new controller and paired it to my Xbox. Then it came to me to try and pair my old controller with my Xbox as if they had never been paired together before. OMG it worked, it turned out that my Xbox and my controller had become unpaired. Don't know how or why it happened but that's all it was is they were no longer paired. I hope that this is the case for everyone who reads this.

I held my console power button down for 10 seconds along with my controller (while my controller was plugged into the console) and when it powered up my controller started working again.

I had this problem with the slow blinking and controller not responding. What finally made it stop, was turning everything off and then holding the xbox button down on my controller to turn on the console again.

Turn off your Xbox by holding the Xbox power button until it fully shuts down. Give it 10 seconds.

Plug in your Xbox controller.

Turn on your Xbox and turn on your controller while it's plugged in.

Once at the home menu it should be turned on, feel free to remove the controller from the Xbox

Then my recommendation after it's on is to update it. If there is an update available.

Hope this helps

I just had this happen to me, I tried EVERYTHING thats been listed on here so far. I read alot about updating your firmware on the controller itself.. Anywho. mine worked after updating the Xbox itself.. It didn’t tell me there was a update needed, and my controller just stopped working, and my hardwired one wouldn’t even turn on. Everything works now that the xbox got its update!

All the above I tried to do for my controller thinking it would never work again, but then with all hope lost I got my usb c charger(because I have a series x controller) and plugged it into my Xbox then to my controller and it stopped blinking when I got the charger in the right position, then finally my light stayed on, I tried using buttons and they started working again then I unplugged my controller from my Xbox and it worked, so guys don’t think it’s broken and get a new one just try everything possible first because I was ready to give up but then it started working in the end.

Unplug your Xbox one, and while its off hit your controllers pair button, plug the Xbox back in, and as soon as you're able to hit the Xbox pair button click it. that worked for me

We found the info on Google,it said you need to get a new controller before playing if it's blinking slow.if you have a controller that's pblinking fast, then you replace the batteries.
