iPod Classic 6th Generation. Model A1238 / 80, 120, or 160 GB hard drive / black or silver metal front

Hard Drive Ribbon Connection

A Redbull froze in my car, exploded, and managed to get into my iPod classic.

I disassembled it and am going to clean it thoroughly, but when I went to pull the ribbon from the hard drive there was some resistance.

Upon closer inspection, the dried, sticky syrup from the Redbull seemed to have gotten into the hard drive connection where the ribbon goes in.

Would I be able to clean the connector on the hard drive with rubbing alcohol and compressed air, or would this damage the hard drive/connector? Not really looking to buy a new hard drive if I don't have to.

Thanks in advance!

@greatendeavor yes you can use alcohol but do not use the store bought rubbing alcohol since that still has 30% water. What I would do is to take the complete logic board and clean it with sterile water and a soft brush first to remove the stred bull residue first. After the sterile water get some 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and clean the board a couple of times with that. It will finalize the cleaning and dissipate the water. If you need to use compressed air do it gently so as to not drive any liquid below the IC's etc. Personally I'd let it air dry.
