Charge port always fails unless you goof around - is this an easy fix?

Phone is about 9 months old for the past 45 days it has been more difficult to get it to charge - when it does connect - it charges fine, have tried 3 different cables & AC/USB adapters, the cradle is about the only one that still works. The Jerko who sold it to me with the 1 year warranty says 'Hello,

you may send the device to Sony for servicing in the UK but please not that if they deem the phone as physically damaged they may charge you an "inspection fee" on top of the shipping charges to send it there.'

Is this any easy fix - I have repaired a few Iphone 4s units in the past.

Hi,

Initial quick checks. Apologies if you've already done this

Use a strong light and a magnifying glass and check that there is no dirt or lint trapped in the port enclosure. Also ensure that the pins are all there and are straight and parallel with each other.

If there is lint in the port enclosure, either suck it out using a vacuum cleaner or if this doesn't work try gently prying it out using a wooden toothpick. Do not use a metal probe.

Try inserting just one end of a USB cable and then again gently try moving the USB cord plug either sideways or up and down just to see if you feel movement in the USB port indicating that it may be loose from the systemboard.

This is a solder job.

You would need to replace the port.

You will need something like this.

However, its only been 9 months. I would contact Sony Support and have them repair it for free.
