Why wont my iPod fully turn on

my 5th gen 30gb ipod (model # A1136) will not turn on. when plugged in it shows the "please wait, very low battery" sign for 1-2 minutes, then tries to turn on and only comes up with a screen showing a little ipod with a sad face saying to go to apple.com/support/ipod. how can i fix this??

It is interesting to note that the message "please wait very low battery" is displayed even if the battery is physically removed.

Also, the screen showing a little ipod with a sad face saying to go to apple.com/support/ipod is displayed even when the hard drive is physically removed -not connected at all.

So the most logical explanation is that the drive is not responding -or booting up, and therefore it makes no difference weather it is connecetd at all to get that message.

My iPOD clicks when trying to boot-up.

I will replace the drive and let you all know if it is fix.

chris, you may actually have a low battery. Does it still charge, have you replaced it at anytime? It is relative easy to do and here are the instructions The battery is readily available here Make sure that when you disconnect that you pull the clip on the connector straight up, it is easy to tear the connector of the logic board if you apply to much sideways pressure (been there, done it) and make double sure that your cable is inserted deep enough. Good luck and let us know how you are progressing.
