One second of green light then off, was working fine, but...

picking up a bundle of DS's and DSI's so getting my fix on.

The DS was in pretty bad shape, the top screen had dead pixels and the touch screen the lower left quarter of the screen was unresponsive, along with that the dpad was not responding as it should, it needed a hard press to register.... so it bits it went

While waiting for the replacement screens I went ahead and removed all the buttons and contact pads and gave them a good clean, fine. Upon putting it all back together, I run into my fault.

-DS turns on to a green light for a few seconds and shut off. nothing is displayed on screens.

-When battery is connected and the mains connected the battery does indeed charge, but still no life on the DS.

Not dropped and hinges are fine, I do suspect water damage to some extent, but the unit used to function properly all be it with bad screens.

I will be replacing both screens but is there anything else I can test as a different fault.

what is the bare minimum for testing the bottom screen, (does the top ribbon cable need to be connected) etc ?

Many thanks

Should I rule out a Fuse Issue, as the DS is charging the battery (continuous orange charge light) ?

Hi!

For a DS Lite system to boot, both screens must be properly connected. It's normal for the console not to boot if you disconnect any of the screens.

To test the bottom screen, a working top screen needs to be connected (the ribbon mustn't be damaged).

Thats what I was thinking, I do need to wait a while to get another Philips driver, the one i have has a tendancy to shred the screw which is the last thing I want to do

The annoying thing is though is that I have all the screws out apart from one, and its one of the two holding the hinge in place.

I will post back any findings.
