Hi! My guess is a bad contact between the cable of the upper screen and the main board or a damaged cable. The DS tends to crash when the displays are not connected properly or if they are damaged. In the first case, just tear the console open using this guide and reconnect the ribbon cable of the upper LCD. Otherwise it’s best to replace the upper screen, you can find them for quite cheap on Amazon or eBay. We have a guide for that here. As for the touchscreen, we have a guide for that as well here, you can only replace the digitizer layer (this layer is effectively glued to the actual LCD panel and its function is to register touches). The glue is easy to remove and replacement parts come with their own glue (as far as I know).

Hi! As far as I know this is normal behaviour on these consoles. When one of the displays breaks, they stop booting up, the only solution is replacing the faulty screen. You can use this teardown guide to get to the upper LCD. Upper LCDs are not very expensive and you can get them on Amazon (here). The biggest issue however is the fact that it's quite tricky to install it, since there is a high chance of damaging the ribbon cable when putting the console back together, but if you are careful you shoud be able able to get this done.

Hi! Sounds like a loose connection to the motherboard or like a faulty motherboard to me. Try tearing the console apart until all connections to the board are separated, as shown in this guide. Then put everything back together and see if it works. Otherwise replace the motherboard.
