the small clip that hols the focusing screen and frame in position has come off any ideas what to do

Sadly, you'll need to find a Canon authorized service center for your camera or send it in to the nearest Canon service depot.
They will need to almost completely take the camera apart to get the broken part out and replace it with a new one.
