I do believe that the glass is a part of the screen and can not be separated. So if you have a crack in it, you will have to repair the entire display. iPod Nano 6th Generation Teardown shows you how to do it Parts are available but costly :) in places like this http://www.repairsuniverse.com/ipod-nano... and cheaper here http://www.ipodrefresh.com/6th-gen-ipod-... i found one for 39.95 on www.milliamp.com. Go to there youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QI5XXQ6Uz.... They will show you how to repair it very easily. The part comes and goes but is relatively cheap.....
