My charger does not work
I have a master charger BCA24 for my car it's a 12 Volt, 2,7amp , I plugged it in to the mains and attached it to my car battery and left it for 24 hours, it did charge the battery as the car started, but the charger was off when I checked it which was surprising, and now when I plug the charger in it no longer works. It has a 10amp fuse which did blow once before, my fault for attaching it incorrectly, but this time it has not blown, the device is supposed to have a 5 amp so not sure what difference this would make if I put in a 10 amp instead.
This is a closed unit so not sure what could go wrong with it and if it is not the fuse, what else could it ne and is it fixable.
thanks Bubbles

Does this model have an internal battery? (A lot of car battery chargers/jumpstarters have batteries inside of them)

Hi it is a sealed unit so I have no idea, I think I will have to junk it and buy new, hate doing it but I'm not technically minded enough to open it up and source the problem, thanks for attempting to help me though.

Hi, As I also hate sending things to landfill, offer it up on sites like Gumtree (if you have something like that) as "free but faulty". That way someone might be interested in repairing it to have it for themselves (if they have the knowledge or wish to learn).
If there is no response then at least you tried and have only delayed the "junking" process for however long you feel is sufficient time.
just read your comment below.
If you get a new charger, connect it via a surge protected powerboard. That way if a surge occurs you will only lose the powerboard and not the charger. Unfortunately cheaper surge protectors give no indication when they have failed and will still supply "unprotected" power to the outlets. Sometimes it pays to invest in better quality powerboards as they will"notify 'when they have done their "sacrificial" duties. They die so that the equipment lives.
